Introducing carbon footprint calculation at Galena

6.2.2023 / News

Galena is committed to supporting Finland’s climate program goal for carbon neutrality by 2035. For this, we have collaborated with Clonet Oy, a Finnish company that offers an OpenCO2.net tool for calculating carbon footprints. The information on carbon footprints allows companies to make informed decisions on reducing the climate change impact caused by their business activities.

Galena can help customers in three ways:

  1. Calculate the carbon footprint of your products.
  2. Identify ways to reduce the carbon footprint of your products in the future.
  3. Recommend alternative raw materials to reduce your carbon footprint.

Galena has successfully calculated the carbon footprint for many products for one of its valued customers, inspiring them to plan their future environmental choices. As part of the responsibility, identifying the carbon footprint of products is paramount, say our experts. Please read the full article on our use of OpenCO2.net by Clonet here.

In addition to customers’ products, Galena is also determining its carbon footprint and continuously reducing it. The collaboration with Clonet enables us to become even more environmentally responsible and to offer our clients, partners, stakeholders, and followers a more sustainable future.

What is a carbon footprint, and why is it important?

The size of a carbon footprint depends on multiple factors; however, the primary one is the amount of greenhouse gas emissions released into the atmosphere by a given activity which causes climate change and global warming. This disruption in the normal balance of nature poses many risks to humans and all other life forms on Earth.

A carbon footprint corresponds to the total amount of greenhouse gases (GHG) produced, directly and indirectly, by an individual, an organization, a product, or a service, among many others. Carbon footprint is commonly expressed in terms of CO2 equivalent emissions produced in tons.

How can companies contribute to climate change?

By reducing the amount of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere through their business activities, companies can hugely contribute to climate change.

Galena helps clients determine their product’s carbon footprint and ecological impact. Together with Galena’s experts—based on the results—our clients can make sustainable choices in the future to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and contribute positively to decreasing the overall carbon footprint caused by them.

Calculate your carbon footprint to understand which emissions can be avoided and reduced and compensate for the unavoidable ones. Start your journey towards carbon neutrality today with us. Kindly leave a request for carbon footprint calculation here.
